The Postmaster's Garden is a beautiful oasis in the heart of Aabenraa and is publicly accessible to everyone during the summer months.

The Postmaster’s House was built in 1758 by an unknown architect, but most likely by the leading master builder Lorentz Jacobsen (1721-79).

The house itself, one of Aabenraa’s finest Rococo buildings, was listed as a heritage site in 1921 and is not open to the public today.

In 1930, the house was purchased by ophthalmologist Beyer, who created the beautiful garden. The German garden architect Hans Kayser designed the garden layout.

To ensure a connection between the garden and the house, the garden itself was also listed as a heritage site in 1982, at the request of Mrs. Beyer.

The garden is now publicly accessible and is operated and maintained by Aabenraa Municipality.

Everyone is welcome to visit the garden during opening hours – you can bring your lunch, coffee, and a good book while enjoying the garden’s beautiful flowers and buildings.

From the garden, there is also a view of Brundlund Castle.

Weddings:
The garden is particularly well-suited as a photo spot if you want to take beautiful wedding pictures with a unique backdrop. Access is free.

Opening hours:
April 1 - September 30: 07:30-17:30 on weekdays and 10:00-17:30 on Saturday-Sunday. October 1 - March 31: CLOSED.
