Karup Church - Sæby

It is built of quarried fieldstones and consists of a chancel, nave, and porch. The architectural form, as it appears today, is very close to its original appearance.
Karup Church is unadorned – meaning it has no tower.
Around the 1500s, however, the interior of the church was altered by installing vaults instead of a beamed ceiling.
During a restoration project in the church in 1957, six coins were found. The most notable was from the time of Valdemar the Victorious, minted in Ribe between 1202 and 1241. Another coin dated to Valdemar Atterdag around 1252. This suggests the church may be older than the year 1200 and thus originates from the 12th century.
